Each day, we are given the opportunity to embrace the magical symphony of a new sunrise and sunset. There’s just something special that draws us to these brief, yet often reflective times of each day. Our beautiful lake and the surrounding protected lands are known for spectacular sunrises and sunsets by those who are fortunate enough to live and visit here. And with the reflective waters and the natural forested shoreline of the lake, many families are attracted to the glorious scenery at the beginning and end of each day that we often take for granted. The Little River Blueway was honored to assist the McCormick Elementary School with their "campsite theme" for the 2011 McCormick County Relay for Life community event. The theme was "Rowing for a Cure." Be sure to check out the excellent pictures drawn by MES students illustrating healthy outdoor activities as a way to beat/prevent cancer. The McCormick Elementary School rose over $12,000 this year for Relay and won best campsite theme.

May 2012 Garden of the Month - The McCormick Garden Club is beginning its Garden of the Month awards program this year featuring Bob and Barbara Smith’s lovely home and garden. You will find this wonderful garden at 205 Jacque Circle right off Huguenot in the Shenandoah area of Savannah Lakes. Their yard contains many varieties of Japanese maple trees. Conifers, such as Deodar and white pines adorn the front back and side yards, along with many other flowers and shrubs. Bob has created of number of interesting rock formations from rocks that he has collected from back home. Please do a drive by and enjoy this unique and beautifully maintained front yard!
